Monroe County Court Records Online
Civil Court of Common Pleas records in Monroe County are handled by the Monroe County Prothonotary. The office describes the Prothonotary as the civil filing and civil record office for the Court of Common Pleas. Current civil filings are scanned, public civil documents can be viewed through county systems, and older files may still be in docket books while the office continues back scanning.

UJS Case Search covers statewide docket sheets for appellate courts, Courts of Common Pleas, and Magisterial District Courts. In Monroe County, that means criminal Common Pleas docket sheets and MDJ cases are searched outside the county C-Track civil system.
For a broad court records search, choose the search-by method that matches the known information: docket number, citation number, OTN, complaint number, incident number, participant name, organization, or date filed. The docket sheet can show case status, court, hearing dates, charges where applicable, docket entries, financial obligations, and disposition. Types of Monroe County Court Records
Monroe County court records come from several offices and court levels. Civil Common Pleas records are filed with the Prothonotary and can include complaints, answers, motions, judgments, liens, orders, and appeals from minor courts. Criminal Common Pleas records are filed with the Clerk of Courts and appear as UJS docket sheets with charges, pleas, hearings, dispositions, sentences, and financial obligations.
Magisterial District Courts are central to Monroe County access because the county has nine MDJ courts serving boroughs and townships. They handle traffic citations, non-traffic summary offenses, landlord-tenant matters, small civil claims up to the state limit, preliminary arraignments, bail, warrants, and preliminary hearings. Family, probate, marriage, divorce, traffic, warrant, and inmate-related records each have a separate custodian or search path.

What Monroe County Court Records Show
A Monroe County court record is usually a docket plus selected case details. It may not include every scanned document online. Copies of Monroe County Court Records
Online access is not the same as a certified copy. The Prothonotary can answer civil copy and certification questions for Court of Common Pleas civil files. The Clerk of Courts handles criminal Common Pleas records and financial obligations. Older civil documents may require office inspection because the research notes older records remain in docket books while back scanning continues.

Public Access to Monroe County Court Records
Court case records in Pennsylvania are governed by the UJS Case Records Public Access Policy. County agency records are handled under the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, which Monroe County administers through its Open Records Office. For court case records, start with the court custodian before sending a general open-records request.
Monroe County's Open Records process is still useful for non-case county agency records, sheriff administrative records, or other county records not posted online. Formal requests must be written, should identify the records with specific detail, and may ask for paper copies, electronic copies, or inspection. The county policy gives the agency five business days to respond, with a possible 30-day extension when the law permits.
Note: Court docket access does not override sealing orders, juvenile confidentiality, or redaction rules for protected identifiers.
Restricted Monroe County Court Records
Not every Monroe County court record is open online or open at the counter. Juvenile court files are generally confidential under Pennsylvania law. Sealed records are not public unless a court order allows access. Expunged records are removed from ordinary public record channels, and limited-access criminal records may be hidden from public view while remaining available to criminal justice agencies.
Common redactions include Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, minor names, victim-sensitive material, adoption filings, mental-health information, and some guardianship or incapacity records. A public docket may show that a case exists while withholding documents or details. When a file is missing from C-Track or UJS, the reason may be age, system coverage, custodian practice, sealing, or a rule-based access limit rather than an error.
